Job Description

Logan County Deputies patrol 1800 square miles of rural Northeast Colorado, most of which is agricultrual. We provide 24 hour coverage for the citizens of Logan County. Daily tasks include handling calls for service, serving civil papers, traffic enforcement, and patrolling within the small towns of Logan County. Deputies with the Logan County SHeriff's Office also have the opportunity to work overtime with DUI and Seatbelt Enforcement opportunities. We are aproactive abency in fighting the drug problems in Logan County. Deputies are paid comp time to participate in Interdiction Nights, which help fight the drug problems within Logan County.

Typical Calls for service in Logan County include: Civil Issues, Thefts, Harassments, Fraud, Assaults, Domestic Violence, Drug Issues, Suspicious Parties, Vin Checks, etc. The Logan County Sheriff's Office handles approximately 10,000 calls for service a year.

Deputies work 12 hour shifts, and get a three day weekend off every other weekend (Fri-Sun), working 14 days out of a 28 day pay period. Pay is bi-monthly (every 14 days). Health insurance, to include dental and vision is free for those who sign up as single. on average we receive 4 new patrol vehicles every year, which include Dodge Chargers and Dodge Pickups. We participate in the Pink Patch Project, and members of this agency have the option of wearing pink arm patches on Friday's, in what we call Fight Against Cancer Friday's, along with Tough Enough to Wear Pink night at the Logan County Fair, and the entire month of October.

The Logan County Fair is our biggest event of the year, to include rodeo's, a carnival, and typically bigger names in the country music industry are here for the concert. The 2018 Night Show at the Logan County Fair was Dustin Lynch.

Logan County has many rdecreational opportunities. North Sterling State Park, Prewitt Reservoir, and Jumbo Reservoir are all within Logan County that offer opportunities for camping, and fishing. Logan County has several public wildlife areas that offer hunting opportunities. Pawnee Buttes is just a short drive away down Highway 14, offer hiking opportunies. Lake McConaughy, a large lake, offering camping, and fishing opportunities, is located just over an hour away, in Ogallala, NE.

Job Requirements

  • Age: 21
  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Experience: POST Certified

POST Certified in Colorado, or hold the equivalent certification in another state.

  • Those holding a certification in another state will sign a contract, due to the cost of the agency getting the employee POST Certified in CO
