The City of Maricopa Police Department is currently building an eligibility list for Lateral Police Officer. The Department will fill positions as needed.
Salary Information: $47,081+
-Paid Vacation: Accrue 88 hours per year for the first 3 years; accruals increase with years of service.
-Sick Leave: Accrue 96 hours per year.
-Holidays: 10 paid holidays and 1 floating holiday per year

The Maricopa Police Department is a 24/7 operation, with over 61 full time employees of which the majority are sworn peace officers.
The department averages approximately 18,000 calls for service per year and is divided into four major divisions with the Patrol division being the largest. This division includes the Traffic Unit, Criminal Investigations, K-9 and Patrol.

- Age: 21 Years of Age
- Education: High School / GED prior to Hiring
- Experience: At least one (1) year of patrol service.
Valid ARIZONA State Driver's License;
Ability to Read/Speak English;
1. Visual acuity of:
a. 20/20 or better uncorrected;
b. 20/20 or better, corrected by spectacles or hard contact lenses, if uncorrected acuity is 20/80 or better. The applicant shall demonstrate satisfactory adaptation to the contact lenses; or
c. 20/20 or better, corrected by soft contact lenses, if the uncorrected acuity is 20/200 or better. The applicant shall demonstrate satisfactory adaptation to the contact lenses;
2. Vision capable of distinguishing basic color groups against a favorable background.
3. Peripheral vision:
a. That does not reveal scotoma or quadrantonopia; or
b. In which vision perimeter testing is intact at 170 degrees.
Academy Certification: Yes, AZPOST;
Arizona Post Certified in good standing.
The ideal candidate will have:
Must have at least one year of experience as a peace officer/deputy within the State of Arizona
Must have an AZPOST certification that is in good standing.
Applicants must have one year of patrol experience not including administrative and training assignments.
Must have successfully completed a peace officer law enforcement academy which was certified by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZ P.O.S.T.).
ALL APPLICANTS MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF THEIR ACADEMY GRADUATION CERTIFICATE TO THE APPLICATION. FOR ARIZONA OFFICERS, THE CERTIFICATE MUST STATE THAT THE ACADEMY WAS CERTIFIED BY AZ P.O.S.T.
-Must obtain an Arizona driver's license within 30 days of hire.
-Must be able to pass an AZ Post background check and polygraph examination, medical exam, psychological screening and a drug and alcohol screening.
-Must be AZ POST certified by the time of appointment. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job, may be substituted at the discretion of city management.
