Lancaster County Sheriff's Office is currently accepting applications for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Applicant must be 21 years of age, possess a valid driver's license, and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Applicant must be able to pass the physical fitness test (PAT), the Police Officer's Selection Test (POST), polygraph, a background check and drug screening. Applicants also must complete the Basic Law Enforcement program (or hold required law enforcement certification).

Under supervision, patrols assigned areas of the County and responds to calls for service; enforces all federal and state laws, County and City ordinances relating to public safety and welfare. Works under stressful, high-risk conditions. Reports to Patrol Lieutenant.
Enforces all federal and state laws, County and City ordinances relating to public safety and welfare; performs all duties in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations and standards of safety.
Provides routine patrol duties, responding to emergency calls and/or public calls for assistance, investigating criminal incidents, apprehending and arresting suspects and violent persons, securing crime scenes, issuing traffic citations/summonses, seizing property and/or criminal evidence, maintaining public order, interrogating suspects, transporting prisoners and mental patients, etc.
Serves warrants, summonses, subpoenas, civil and other official papers.
Starting salary is based on experience and continued education:
30,708-32,708 Certified Officer with less than 3 years experience
32,708-34,708 Certified Officer with an Associate’s Degree and less than 3 years experience
34,708-36,708 Certified Officer with a Bachelor’s Degree and less than 3 years experience
