The Kotzebue Police Department is currently accepting applications for one police officer opening and at least one additional vacancy in the near future. This position is FSLA 7(k) exempt and the applicant will work a two-week on/off schedule. There is no state or local residency requirement and the successful applicant can live outside of the state and commute to work. The pay is $28.03 per hour, (which is multiplied by 2380 hours a year which including paid holidays).
The police department prefers certified police officers with some law enforcement experience. The applicant must be at least 21-years old, have a high school diploma or GED, possess or be capable of obtaining an Alaska Driver's License and pass an extensive background investigation, to include truth verification tests, psychological exam and upon offer of employment, a medical exam. Further, the applicant must be able to meet the minimal standards for police officer as set out in 13AAC85.010.
