Job Description

The basic duties include patrolling, traffic enforcement, responding to calls for service and addressing the community concerns related to crime and quality of life issues. Officers are expected to be proactive in working with the community and to utilize community policing principles to prevent & deter crime.

The Chesterfield County Police Department is located in central Virginia and adjoins the City of Richmond. The department services a community of 323,000 residents and patrols over 446 square miles. We are a progressive and professional department that offers career development, permanent shifts and paid training. Benefits include tuition reimbursement, health/dental insurance and a take home vehicle program. We also offer paid retirement and a GI Bill approved academy. The initial training consists of a 32 week, non-residential academy and a two month field training period. Job Requirements

  • Age: : 21 Years old prior to completion of academy.
  • Education: : High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Experience: : 60 college credit hours, or two years law enforcement experience, or two years active duty military experience, or three years continuous employment, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
