CHIEF OF POLICE The City of Sterling, CO is seeking applicants for the position of Chief of Police. The Chief of Police, under the general direction of the City Manager, is responsible for the overall operation of the Police Department, which consists of the Operations & Support Divisions which includes Investigations, Records, & Youth Services functions. There are twenty-two sworn officers in the Police Department & 6 full-time support employees.

- Experience: : Five (5) years in a command level position to include significant supervisory or management responsibility.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice Administration, and/or Business/Public Administration or a combination of education, training & experience which allows an individual to demonstrate competency in performance of essential functions. Applicants must be certified, or be able to be certified, as a law enforcement officer under the P.O.S.T. Standards of the State of Colorado. Applicants will be evaluated by the City of Sterling, including a polygraph test, a psychological evaluation, a physical examination administered by a doctor of the City's choice and a consumer report for employment. Hiring range for this position is $2061.00 - $2649.65 biweekly. Application deadline is December 13, 2013 5:00 p.m. (MST).
