Job Description

The Chickasha Police Department offers a place for a career not just a job. We are constantly on the lookout for highly motivated exceptional people to join our team of professionals in the fast paced and rewarding field of Law Enforcement. We currently have openings and the positions will be open until we find quality individuals to join our team. Pay A Police officer’s base salary is $36,086.78 a year if certified and $35,070.45 a year if uncertified with the potential for increased earnings based on education, certifications, longevity and overtime. The average patrol officer’s base pay is $37,352.00 and officers receive $1800.00 a year in uniform allowance after probation. Health Insurance Employees pay $100 monthly for single health insurance and $180 a month for family coverage with free ambulance service if you live in the city limits. Employees also have optional insurance available through AFLAC which is paid directly through payroll deductions. Leave Time Employees accrue 8 hours of sick time each month with a maximum of 704 hours and an eligible portion can be “sold” back at the end of the year if not used, vacation is accrued based on length of service with 40-200 hours a year possible with a maximum of 480 hours available if not used. In addition 30 days of paid military leave is available each year if the officer is in the United States Military. The city also has bereavement leave, paid holidays, and personal days for employees. Other Benefits Once probationary status is completed, officers are eligible for a take home car if they live within the Chickasha zipcode. Once appropriate training has been received, officers are assigned a patrol rifle and shotgun as part of their gear. The Chickasha Police Department also utilizes MobileCop in patrol cars as well as DigiTicket devices and a state of the art wireless In-Car Video System for the fleet. In addition the Chickasha Police Department is actively pursuing accredited status through the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Agency Accreditation and Professional Standards Program. Our agency believes in deploying cutting edge technology and is the first to deploy the Smart911 system in the state of Oklahoma. Training and Education There are ample opportunities for employees to receive advanced training and attend educational courses. We also offer an incentive where employees can have a portion of their college tuition reimbursed if they are still in college. Many officers in our organization have received advanced training and now serve as adjunct instructors at CLEET (Oklahoma's State Academy) teaching on numerous topics.

Job Requirements

  • Age: 21
  • Education: HS Diploma or GED
  • Experience: Certified Officers Preferred
MANDATORY PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • 300 Meter Run in 69 seconds;
  • 18 Pushups – no time limit but must be continuous. Cannot put knees down or chest on the ground between pushups;
  • 27 Sit Ups in 1 minute;
  • 1.5 mile run in 15:20.
Minimum Requirements
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 21 years of age
  • Valid State Driver’s License
The Chickasha Police Department has established a standard which requires applicants to meet criteria above and beyond the state standards.
IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFIERS include:
  1. No misdemeanor drug convictions / pending cases within the past five years
  2. No illegal drug use within past year
  3. No conviction / pending case on any felony charge
  4. No active warrant with any jurisdiction
  5. No DWI/DUI related conviction / pending cases within the past three years
  6. No more than one DWI/DUI conviction / pending case
  7. No conviction / pending case for crimes of violence
  8. No conviction / pending case for crimes of a sexual nature
  9. No driver’s license suspension for excess points within past five yrs
  10. No conviction / pending case for any crime involving a firearm
  11. no conviction for theft or other deceptive crime ie: Fraud, Forgery, Theft by Deception, etc
  12. No felony arrest that results in a misdemeanor court conviction if a preponderance of the evidence indicates a felony was committed
