Job Description

University of Oregon police officers are responsible for maintaining peace and public safety through enforcement of laws, performing traffic control, and providing emergency services on UO owned and controlled properties. Police officers must at all times support the UOPD's mission, provide essential law enforcement functions, and respect the rights and dignity of all individuals. Police officers must interact effectively with the campus community demonstrating trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, communication, justice, fairness, caring, civic virtue, and citizenship, while maintaining integrity, ethical values, pride, and professionalism. CAREER NIGHT & OREGON PHYSICAL ABILITIES TEST (ORPAT) PRACTICE SESSION: Learn about the police officer 1 position, recruitment and selection process, and practice the ORPAT on Tuesday December 10, 2013, 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Gerlinger Annex, 1484 University Street, Eugene, OR 97403. No pre-registration required. You must sign a liability waiver form and wear the appropriate attire in order to participate in the ORPAT practice session. Visit www.oregon.gov/DPSST/AT/ORPAT.shtml to review information on the ORPAT. Free parking is available in all UO parking lots after 6:00 p.m. unless marked "reserved at all times".

Job Requirements

  • Age: 21 or older
  • Education: HS Diploma or equivalent, One year of college coursework (minimum of 45 quarter credit hours or 30 semester hours from an accredited college or university)
  • Experience: One year full time work experience paid or volunteer (or combination of both) interacting with the public within the past 5 years
Must be a United States citizen; possess a current Oregon driver's license at time of appointment; No felony convictions under federal or state law; No Class A misdemeanor convictions within three years of job application.
