Job Description

  • Assist sworn officers in the investigation of criminal offenses and other police activities.
  • Assist with special assignments in the field of police work.
  • Must have aptitude for law enforcement work.
  • Must have abilities to think clearly and act effectively in stressful situations, make sound and logical decisions quickly, prioritize effectively; solve problems, observe and remember details of incidents, names and faces.

  • Provide reports of assignments and/or related work as needed.
  • Provide Police Services not requiring the duties of a police officer and assistance as assigned.
  • Conduct accurate, thorough, and complete investigations. Maintain control and handle evidence and property.
  • Insure the safe custody of evidence and property taken into custody by police employees.
  • Other job duties as assigned
Salary range: $30,502 - $38,731 based on experience.

Job Requirements

  • Age: : 21+
  • Education: High school diploma or GED with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours from an accredited college or university (or)
  • Experience: (or) law enforcement agency.
High school diploma or GED with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of continuous employment, part time or full time, as a: police guard, dispatcher, telecommunications operator, other qualifying positions or other related experience with a component institution of the University of Texas System, as determined by the Chief of Police. Duties involve driving, walking, standing, stooping, climbing, crouching, pushing, jumping over, pulling, carrying, reaching above head, lifting, lowering, hand-wrist and elbow motion, grasping and holding. Competently perform under stress when confronted with high priority situations and distractions. Perform a variety of tasks, often changing quickly from one task to another without the loss of efficiency or composure. Carry, drag, lift, pull and/or push up to 15 pounds of boxes and packages up to two flights of stairs. Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and be eligible to drive a University owned and/or leased motor vehicle. Must successfully pass a thorough background investigation. Must be able to provide creditable testimony in a court of law. Working conditions involve exposure to variable weather conditions and working on any one of three shifts with varying days off and on holidays. Work may involve a degree of hazard. Salary range: $30,502 - $38,731 based on experience.
