Job Description

Performs a wide range of patrol duties, as assigned, to enforce various laws and ordinances, and to protect the general public's constitutional rights, as provided for under county, state, tribal and federal laws. Work from rotating shift patrol assignments, to operate a patrol vehicle in a designated area of the county, with full responsibility for proper personal conduct and enhancement of the County's police image, while carrying out the duties of law enforcement being ever mindful of the constitutional rights of the citizenry, both on and off duty. Employee may be required to work irregular hours, attend job related meetings, and perform other duties assigned. Non-Certified Officers pay begins at $15.63 until certified, after certification $20.49. Certified Officer or Laterals pay range is $20.49-$22.61. Certificate pay for certifications to include College Degree pay up to an additional hourly pay rate of $2.00.

Additional Information

Benefits: Paid Vacation, Military Leave, Sick Leave and Holiday Pay. PERA retirement, health insurance paid at 100% for full-time employees and at %60 for dependents. Take Home Vehicle Program, every Deputy will be issued a take home vehicle as per policy. Current fleet is comprised of Chevy Tahoe, Ford Explore, Ford F-150 and Crown Victoria. Certificate pay for qualifying certifications and College incentive pay for having a College Degree possible pay increase of $2.00 plus an hour. High School Diploma or GED, must be 21 years old by certification from the Academy in accordance with NMLEA requirements. Possess or qualify for a valid New Mexico Driver's License with no more than 2 moving violations and no DWI's within the last 3 years, No illegal drug use with the last three years, must provide a current driving record, background investigation must show no prior misdemeanors involving moral turpitude, felony, or domestic violence convictions. Physical, written test (Non-Certified), background investigation, oral review board, polygraph examination, and pre-employment physical and drug screen.
