Job Description

The Town of Brunswick Police Department seeks existing certified Law Enforcement Officers for an opening within the Patrol Division. The Brunswick Police Department is a progressive department, devoted to community involvement, utilizing a team-oriented approach. To fulfill our current mission statement, we believe in up-to-date training and offer other educational opportunities to our Officers to deal with today’s law enforcement needs. On October 1, 2013, we opened a new Station at the corners of Pleasant and Stanwood Streets. Our excellent benefit package includes competitive pay and offers a lateral entry option commensurate with experience. (The pay range for this position is $33,657 to $41,946). Benefits include options for health, dental and/or life insurances; short-term disability, retirement plan choices, educational reimbursement, paid vacations, sick time and paid holidays/floaters. Additional benefits include educational assistance/incentive, physical fitness bonus, paid gym memberships, yearly clothing allowance and a 20-year retirement option. To be considered for this opportunity, you must hold a Certified Maine Law Enforcement Officer status or an equivalent certification from another State. In addition, you must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, and have attained an Associates Degree (or 60 college credits) or equivalent work/military history with specialization in criminal justice preferred. A minimum score of 50 must have been attained on the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ALERT Test. (The Alert examination is offered at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy on the first and third Wednesday of each month). While past (successful) completion of the MCJA PAT is helpful; the Brunswick Police Department will conduct an additional PAT component (date TBD). Clearance by the candidate’s physician will be required to proceed. Leading candidates will undergo an Oral Board interview, background investigations, polygraph/psychological and a medical exam.
