We are a rural community located on US 54 Highway in Southwest Missouri within close proximity to Stockton, Truman, and Pomme de Terre Lakes offering excellent outdoor recreation opportunities but are still within one and one-half hours to the metropolitan areas of Kansas City, Springfield and Joplin. Reasonably priced housing accommodation are available with lower than average tax rates. The Police Department is authorized eight commissioned officer and four full time communications officers. Applicants must be a United States citizen, twenty-one years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess a valid Missouri driver’s license, a valid P.O.S.T. license, and no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions. Applicants should possess and exhibit strong character, honesty, reliability, and integrity. Applicants currently attending an academy and military veterans are encouraged to apply. Testing may include written and spelling examinations, oral interview, physical agility, psychological and health examinations, drug screening, and /or other tests at determined by the Chief of Police.
