Carries firearms and/or makes arrests and testifies in court. Makes police presentations to groups and organizations. Testing (fitness and written) will be administered on the following dates: SATURDAY, MAY 10th, 2014 Fitness 9:00 a.m. ~ Written 12:30 p.m. AND WEDNESDAY, MAY 14th, 2014 Fitness 5:00 p.m. ~ Written 7:30 p.m. THESE ARE THE ONLY DATES TESTING WILL BE ADMINISTERED. As part of the application process, applicants must indicate which testing date they will attend. (No split testing dates). Selections MAY NOT be changed after the posting end date. Applicants who have completed an Ohio basic academy but do not have an OPOTA certification/letter in hand by the testing date will be required to complete and successfully pass the physical fitness portion of testing in order to proceed to the written test. Applicants who have not completed an Ohio basic academy and do not possess OPOTA certification will be required to complete and successfully pass the physical fitness portion of testing in order to proceed to the written test. Applicants who currently possess OPOTA certification or receive by the testing date must submit a copy to University Human Resources to be exempt from the physical fitness component of testing. Applicants will be required to successfully complete the written portion of the test. Job Requirements

  • Age: : must be 21 at the time of appointment
  • Education: : High School diploma or equivalency required
  • Experience: : Applicants that do not possess Ohio Peace Officer Training certificate must also successfully complete physical fitness examination to be eligible for additional consideration.
  • High School diploma or equivalency required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Applicants must possess the basic skills of reading, writing and math competencies.
  • All applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age at the time of appointment and successfully complete a written examination to be eligible for additional consideration.
  • Applicants that do not possess Ohio Peace Officer Training certificate must also successfully complete physical fitness examination to be eligible for additional consideration.
  • Finalists must undergo a psychological assessment, a truth verification interview and a comprehensive background investigation.
  • Successful applicants must meet Occupational Health Medical standards for the position and classification.
