Work involves responsibility for the protection of life and property, prevention of crime, apprehension of criminals, and the general enforcement of laws and ordinances in a designated area on an assigned shift. Work is performed in accordance with departmental rules and regulations and normally consists of routine patrol, preliminary investigations, and other general duties which may be performed in patrol cars or on foot. Work involves an element of personal danger and employees must be able to act without direct supervision and exercise discretion in meeting emergencies. Assignments, as well as general and special instructions, are received from superior officers, who review work methods and results through personal inspections, reports, and discussion.

The current starting salary is $46,105.00 plus overtime and liberal benefits. MANDATORY ORIENTATION will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014 in the EMA Room that is located in the basement of the Law and Justice Center.
