Job Description

Multiple positions. **** International Position **** Must be able to obtain a US Passport, Must be able to obtain Residency Visa. Must be willing to live in a foreign country for up to 1 year. This is a contract position. Living and travel Expenses are Paid for within the contract. Master Gunsmith to aid in running day to day operations of a US Owned and Run Gunsmith company in the UAE. Aid the US General Manager in Project Management, Staff Management and Quality of Project support. These positions will primarily be responsible for providing the diagnosis, maintenance, repair and customization of firearms including the ability to fabricate custom parts and the ability to customize weapons to suit the needs of customers. Job Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Junior/Journeyman Gunsmith:
  • Responsible for maintaining the inspection, cleaning and maintenance of the client inventory including routine maintenance.
  • Performs general gunsmithing duties including but not limited to general inspection, diagnosis and repair or firearms, installation of sights, parts and accessories
  • Customer cleaning services and responding to malfunctions at the client site
  • Able to assemble the three elements of a firearm, (barrel, stock and the action mechanism)
  • Able to conduct research on firearms, read and follow technical drawings and manuals
  • Able to research and talk to staff in the US for parts inventory and restocking purchases
  • Handle attachments include optical sights for aiming, pistol grips, decorative pieces and recoil pads to cushion the blast on the shooter’s end
  • Do the finishing touches of guns, such as polishing them with oils, resins or lacquers
  • General Use of a Computer for Work Orders, Reports, Asset Tracking and RF ID Bar Coding Software.
  • Respond to emails and inquiries from management, customers and other employees
  • Other duties may be assigned
Senior Gunsmith:
  • Includes responsibilities listed above in the Junior Gunsmith section
  • Manage Junior Gunsmith and Technician Staff
  • Manage project deadlines, travel schedules and parts inventory
  • Concentrates on advanced firearm diagnosis, repairs and fabrication
  • Precision machining operations using the milling machine and lathe and use hand tools and machines such as grinders, planers, and millers
  • Can restore antique guns, convert old rifles to up-to-date firearms, or adapt factory-made rifles to the special needs of customers
  • TIG welding, specialized machine gun repairs and custom work including barrel replacement
  • Small arms in the arms room inventory, performs major repairs on foreign and domestic standard and non-standard small arms weapons, can build either custom pistols or rifles with little or no supervision, possesses excellent knowledge of gun-smiting tools and procedures, and possesses moderate knowledge of firearms operating principles and ballistics.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of firearm operation principles, has a moderate knowledge of internal/external ballistic theories, can fabricate special jigs, fixtures and other special tooling with some supervision, can read and understand blueprint drawings, and can work from those drawings under direct supervision.
  • The Master and Senior Gunsmith should be able to perform as primary instructor on most standard and non-standard small arms weapon systems.
  • Manufacture and conversion of firearms
  • Interaction directly with Customers as needed
  • Participate in the creation of developing prototypes as needed
  • Ability to use Custom Machining and customize requested items Welding of types of firearms and or equipment
  • General Use of a Computer for Work Orders, Reports and Asset Tracking and RF ID Bar Coding Software.
  • Respond to emails and inquiries from management, customers and other employees

  • Familiar with the function and operation of a wide variety of civilian and military firearms
  • Expertise in the shaping and forming of metal using files, saws, grinders, sanders, buffers, drills and taps.
  • Proficiency in the operation of hand and machine tools as applicable to firearms, including but not limited to drill press, engine lathe, vertical mill, bench grinder, surface grinder, belt sander and buffer.
  • Skilled in the removal, replacement and rechambering of rifle barrels employing advanced methods for insuring accuracy
  • Understanding of gas and electric welding and soldering as applicable to firearms
  • Basic computer skills
  • Exhibits excellent human relation skills related to customers
  • Able to work independently and minimal supervision Self-starter with enthusiastic personality
  • Conscientious and dependable work ethic
  • Ability to follow through on task
  • Attention to detail
  • Should have the mechanical aptitude, the passion for building guns, as well as the interest in fine craftsmanship
  • Ability to work well under pressure and balance multiple priorities and assignments to meet deadlines
  • Ability to project a positive and professional image of the stature befitting the position
  • Exhibit an ability to foster a "team" environment when serving both internal and external customers

Job Requirements

  • Age: : Open, but want mature people
  • Education: : Must have major brand smithing certifications
Education and Experience:
  • Military Experience given preference
  • Must have certifications from SIG, GLOCK, COLT and Smith and Wesson, others also a plus like Remington and Winchester.
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year or technical school preferred
  • Courses include algebra, drafting, technical report writing, metallurgy, ballistics, and machine tool processes.
  • 5 to 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
