The Town of Fairplay, Colorado, situated in Park County at 10,000 feet above sea level and the center of year round activity is looking to fill one (1) full-time Police Officer position. The Fairplay Police Department consists of 3 full-time Police Officers, 4 part-time Police Officers and 2 Reserve Police Officers. The Fairplay Police Department is responsible for the day to day law enforcement operations for the Town, which include traffic enforcement and accident investigations, criminal investigations, code enforcement, and various other duties as required and assigned. This position requires the applicant to be a fully-certified Peace Officer through the Colorado POST certification standards, or within 80-hours of graduating as a fully-certified peace officer, or if from out of state, able to obtain such certification within 6 months of hire. Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License, or able to obtain one within 30-days of hire, have no more than 6 points or equivalent worth of violations within the past 3-years, no misdemeanor convictions within the past 3 years, and no violent or moral turpitude misdemeanors or felonies. Full-time Police Officers will receive a basic Uniform allowance, which includes Ballistic Vest (50/50 cost share with the Department) and other essential equipment, to include a Department issued firearm. The salary is set according to the Town of Fairplay Salary Schedule which for a Police Officer is between $33,586.90 to $46,487.06, depending on previous experience and qualifications. Full Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance is paid for through the Town of Fairplay for the employee and the employee’s family as well as an optional AFLAC supplemental insurance package. Retirement benefits are through the FPPA with an additional 457 retirement package available. Police Officers have a take home vehicle if they reside within a 15 minute response to the Town of Fairplay.
