License/C.H.I.P. card: Must possess or be able to obtain a valid motor vehicle driver’s license by the time of the appointment to the position. Must possess a current valid CHIP card at 40th percentile on the day of the written examination.
Residency Requirement: None. Residents of Bloomfield & Military veterans will receive additional points on final scores. Residents will be required to submit proof of residency along with the Residency Form and Military veterans will be required to submit a DD-214 along with the Veterans Points Form prior to the written examination. Criminal Convictions: Candidates must have no criminal record revealing any conviction, under federal or state law, of any felony, or any conviction of any Class A or B misdemeanor, or of any crime in any other jurisdiction that would if committed in this state, constitute a Class A or B misdemeanor, or any act which would constitute perjury or false statements. All other criminal records will be evaluated during the background investigation.
Written Examination: Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will be invited to the written examination held on June 28, 2014. Notification of the location and time of the written examination will be sent via e-mail. A minimum score of 70 is required to pass. Candidates who pass the written exam will be invited to attend an open house at the Bloomfield Police Department on August 14th and August 20th.
Please take note: There is a $31.00 application/written examination fee, payable to Policeapp.com. The Town of Bloomfield will NOT accept any payments. Oral Panel Examination: Candidates who successfully pass the written examination will progress to the oral panel examination. The oral panel examinations will be held September 9-19, 2014. Candidates taking the oral panel exam will be notified of the location and time via e-mail.
Background Investigation: Candidate's background and character will be investigated, including criminal record, driving record, employment record, military record, educational record and other related areas upon successful completion of the oral panel exam. A drug test, polygraph examination, psychological testing and medical examination will be administered prior to a final employment offer.
