The Delaware SPCA seeks qualified applicants for the position of Humane Law Enforcement Investigator for our Georgetown, Sussex County Delaware chapter. Humane Law Enforcement Officers are required to investigate complaints of cruelty to animals and enforce state laws related to cruelty to animals. In addition to law enforcement, Humane Law Enforcement Officers assist in carrying out the organization's mission of prevention of cruelty to animals, and must be willing to offer aid and assistance to animals in need. The applicant must have a high school diploma. College coursework in law enforcement, criminal justice, and/or animal science is preferred. A charge or conviction of a felony crime or a crime of moral turpitude is an automatic disqualification; previous police or law enforcement experience required, (Separation within 5 years, copy of certification required). Applicant must demonstrate good judgment, common sense, motivation, dependability, and enthusiasm for the job. The applicant must be able to work independently, have excellent verbal and strong writing skills, must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other Windows software and have excellent organizational, accuracy skills and problem-solving abilities. Applicant must be medically and psychologically fit to execute duties. Applicant must maintain a valid driver's license and a good driving record and be able to pass a drug screening and criminal background check. Job Requirements

  • Age: Min. 21
  • Education: Criminal Justice/Animal Science Preferred
  • Experience: 5 or more years as certified police officer
Must have at least 5 years of certified law enforcement experience, (preference to those whose separation was within 5 years) Must be able to meet minimum standards for a Delaware Constable Commission. Automatic disqualification for any charges or convictions of any crimes of moral turpitude.
