Patrol and Detention Deputy

Patrol Deputy: Performs police patrol, investigations, crime prevention acitivities, traffic regulation and enforcement, citizen assistance, and related law enforcement activities.
Detention Deputy: performs bookings, fingerprinting, photographing and classification of prisoners, Responsible for inmate care and safety while in custody.

Patrol and Detention Deputies work a modified 12 hour, 3 on, 4 off, 4 on 3 off schedule.

Eligibility Requirements: US Citizen; Eligible for Nevada driver’s license and good driving record; no felony convictions, no domestic violence convictions; eligibility to obtain Nevada POST certification; Current POST peace officer certification is preferred but not required. Females and bilinguals are encouraged to apply.
Physical Requirements: Deputies must be able to pass the Nevada POST physical fitness requirements to be certified as a peace officer. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Candidates meeting the minimum requirements will be invited to participate in the evaluation process which may include any or all of the following: an application appraisal, a written examination, a physical fitness evaluation, and an oral board interview. Candidates will be ranked on a hiring roster, based upon scores received from the evaluation process. Prior to appointment, a candidate must pass an in-depth background investigation, a polygraph examination, pre-employment physical examination, a drug screen, and a psychological exam.
