Central City is a gaming town, with about 800 residents, located in the Rocky Mountains, 35 miles west of Denver. With the Central City Parkway, visitors can reach Central City 12 minutes after exiting off of I-70 at exit 243.
In 1859, John Gregory discovered "The Gregory Lode" in a gulch near Central City. Within two months the population grew to 10,000 people seeking their fortunes and the gold rush was on. Central City is at the southern end of Gilpin County at an elevation of 8,510 feet.
The City of Central City, CO is seeking candidates for police officer. The police department is teamwork oriented and looking to hire one full time position. The department is likely to hire another full-time officer after the first of the year. Candidates would perform a variety of professional police duties to enforce City, State, and Federal ordinances, codes, and statutes necessary for the protection of life, property, safety and welfare of the citizens and visitors of the City of Central.
Starting salary is $43,240 a year without experience. Law enforcement experience is preferred and salary will be determined by the Chief of Police.

Currently the 7 person department works four-ten hour shifts overlapping on Wednesday.
