The purpose of this classification is to provide protection of life and property, enforcement of federal, state and local laws, response to emergency/non-emergency situations, investigation of criminal activity, and specialized duties within an assigned division/unit which may include the Road Patrol Unit, Traffic Unit, Marine Unit, or other area.

- Age: 21
- Education: Must be Certified LEO in Florida
- Experience: Preferred
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by completion of basic police officer training program; supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving law enforcement or security work, and training/work in area of specialized assignment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain valid Florida Police Officer certification. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license. Operation of police boat may require possession and maintenance of valid U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License. Operation of police motorcycle requires possession and maintenance of valid Florida driver’ license with motorcycle endorsement.
