The Medicine Lodge Police Department is seeking motivated and qualified applicants to join our team as a Police Officer. Located in south-central Kansas, Medicine Lodge has an approximate population of 2,000 citizens and is located in the Gyp Hills, at the junction of U.S. routes 281 and 160, and is approximately 90 miles SW of Wichita, KS. The Police Department consists of 5 officers, including the Chief of Police, and provides 24 hour-a-day law enforcement services to an approximate population of 2,000 citizens. The Police Department provides all uniforms, a patrol rifle, side arm, body armor, boots, etc. to all Police Officers.
$12.71/hour to $15.33/hour, depending upon qualifications. Other benefits include vacation, sick time up to 720 hours), holiday time, overtime for any time worked over 40 hours in a week, KPERS retirement, medical insurance at no cost for single employees and low cost for family coverage as well as low cost dental and vision insurance coverage.

Interested applicants must meet the following requirements: be 21 years of age; Be a United States citizen; possess a HS diploma or GED certificate; possess a valid Kansas driver's license (or be able to obtain a Kansas driver's license within 30 days of employment); and shall not have any convictions, diversions or expungements for crimes involving domestic violence, narcotics offenses, or felony crimes. KLETC certification is preferred but not required. Non-certified applicants will be required to attend & successfully complete the basic training class at KLETC as a condition of continued employment with the Police Department. Officers certified in other states are encouraged to apply as well.
