Job Description

Patrol officers work 5 days on, then enjoy 4 and 5 day weekends. Shifts are 10 hours 40 minutes long.

Officers are provided with take home cars that can be used on, and off-duty

Serving a population of almost 100,000; the Yakima Police Department has a dedicated staff of approximately 200 employees, over 140 of which are sworn officer positions. The Department responds to over 55,000 calls for service each year and operates within the structure of five major divisions - Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Special Operations, Corrections and Administrative Services. Job Requirements

  • Age: 21
  • Education: High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Experience: For Entry Level - No experience needed; Lateral-Officers require 2 years LE exerience

-Applicants must be 21 years of age or older

-Must be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident

-Be a high school graduate or equivalent

-In good physical condition, good moral character and capable of performing the full range of required duties

-Must possess normal color vision

-Must be able to meet and maintain the department standards for firearm qualification and all State and Federal laws to possess and carry a firearm
