Did it touch a prisoner? Disinfect it.

The other day I saw a new officer remove the cuffs from a prisoner he'd brought to jail and just place them back into their holster on his belt. I had to tell him: When possible, always wear gloves when handling a prisoner and always disinfect anything that touched the prisoner. An open sore on his wrist could have any kind of disease, which could get passed to the next prisoner--or to you. Hep C, maybe?
