Best boots: PoliceOne members speak out

Police1 recently asked members active on the Police1 Forums the following simple question to which there are myriad equally valid answers:

“Who makes the boots and/or shoes you wear and why do you like/love your chosen brand of footwear? Everyone is different (weight, bone structure, etc) so no single manufacturer is going to be right for everyone. I want to know why your boot/shoe manufacturer is right for YOU.” Here are a handful of answers that we hope will influence some additional discussion...

“LOWA, Seeker GTX, by far the best durable and comfortable boots I have ever owned.”
—Officer Piotr Gordziej, Sheboygan (Wisc.) Police Department

“Haix! I bought the Airpower P6 high and they are far and above the best boots I have owned. Comfortable and durable!”
—Officer Edwin Julian Jr., Detroit Police Department

“5.11 side zipper boot for patrol and Oakley boots for SWAT. Both are great boots.”
—Joe Alejandro Mansfield (Texas) Police Department

“I’ve had two pairs of Magnums. Pissed me off when I ripped out the side of the first pair. It took about five years to do it. Very comfortable out-of-the-box.”
—Inspector Jason Wildermuth U.S. Customs & Border Protection

“I’ve used various brands, but tend to come back to Original SWAT. I’ve found them to fit me the best and are reasonably priced.”
—Sergeant John Converse, Rockville (Maryland) Police Department

“Danner Acadias. I’ve had them for 4 years, with two re-solings and the leather still looks like the day I bought them. I just bought Acadia Elites and I can’t wait to try them out. To me, spending $200 bucks (and $50 every 12-16 mos fore refurbs, I’m hard on soles) for boots that last is better than wasting my money by having to always buy $90-$120 boots all the time.”
—Officer Andrew Redman, Front Royal Police Department
