1. Where did your company name originate from?
MobileView is a brand name that truly describes our solutions - all mobile video-focused and backed by 20+ years of experience delivering innovative mobile solutions to public agencies.
2. What was the inspiration behind starting your company?
In 1996, MobileView® got its start in Corvallis, Oregon, a Pac-12 university town with a strong research and development community at a company named Kalatel. The company’s focus was building reliable video recording systems for public transportation, a growing need that was underserved at the time. Today, MobileView is a part of Interlogix, which provides leading security and life-safety solutions for both residential and commercial applications covering intrusion, video, transmission and access. Interlogix is part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, and a unit of United Technologies Corporation. Over the past two decades, MobileView has earned a solid reputation offering turn-key mobile surveillance solutions – which include hardware, software, and wireless infrastructure installations – as well as video management services.
3. What is your signature product and how does it work?
The MobileView body worn camera (BWC) can be used to record video evidence, audio or take photos. At the end of a shift officers dock their BWCs and the MobileView docking station with integrated evidence management software does the rest. The docking station simultaneously charges and downloads from up to 20 cameras at a time and manages all video assets from the built-in LCD screen or from authorized network locations.
4. Why do you believe your products are essential to the police community?
MobileView has long focused on the public transportation segment delivering turn-key mobile solutions. Taking our video hardware and software expertise into other mobile markets, we provide solutions that are a natural fit for law enforcement agencies seeking to reduce complaints and use-of-force incidents.
5. What has been the biggest challenge your company has faced?
One of the biggest challenges has been increased choice in the marketplace. While many companies are just getting started, MobileView has been delivering reliable, purpose-built products for 20+ years. Our expertise is backed by strong dedication, ethical compliance in every aspect of our implementation and support. We will continue to integrate our solutions into diverse mobile environments while maintaining our commitment as a dependable, full-service partner.
6. What makes your company unique?
Our people! MobileView has a dedicated team of experts committed to doing the right thing each and every time in every situation. We really stand behind our strong ethical culture and are proud of this.
7. What do your customers like best about you and your products?
MobileView products are purpose-built and follow a product development process focused on listening to end-user requirements. We strive to identify what our customers want and then give them products that meet their needs.
8. What is the most rewarding part of serving the first responder community?
Knowing that our products and services are helping to protect those serving the communities in which we all live and work.
9. Is there any fun fact or trivia that you’d like to share with our users about you or your company?
Many of the original MobileView employees that have been with the company since its inception are still with MobileView today. While our group has steadily grown, our commitment to MobileView and our products has remained. We've been lucky to find the right talent with the right skills for our business.
10. What's next for your company? Any upcoming new projects or initiatives?
We are in the process of developing a second generation body camera, with wireless download capabilities, Bluetooth record trigger capability and a 12- port compact docking station. The new products will integrate with our existing evidence management software.
