DAYTON, Ohio -- Police in Ohio say a 5-year-old boy used a cell phone to call for help after someone fatally shot his mother.
Dayton police say they found the woman’s body in an apartment early Friday after a call from the woman’s son.
Sgt. Michael Pauley says the boy used a phone after he heard a shot and was not able to wake his mother up. Pauley says a police dispatcher stayed on the line with the boy until officers arrived.
The county coroner identified the woman as 25-year-old Marquita Brown.
Police are searching for the woman’s boyfriend. They say the boy told them the boyfriend ran out of the apartment after the shot. Police found a gun at the scene.
