Video: 3-D software recreates Aurora theater shooting

CSI technology shows the crime scene to an exact scale as the shooting played out

By PoliceOne Staff

A 3-D animation of the Aurora, Colo., shooting scene where 12 people were killed could help build a case against the alleged gunman, experts say.

After receiving a request from CBS News, Aras 360 used CSI technology to recreate the crime scene to an exact scale as the shooting played out, according to their website.

In the animation, moviegoers are positioned relative to the shooter based on witness statements, and a trajectory shows the bullets as they leave the shooter’s weapon.
