SHOT Show 2016: Metalloid Corp.'s eco-friendly gun cleaners don't leave strong odor

Face it, not everyone gets off on smelling petroleum-based firearms cleaners at the kitchen table

I’ll bet you like the smell of Hoppes Number 9, right? So many people do that Hoppes actually released a room freshener based on its scent. But your spouse may not like it as much as you do. Face it, not everyone gets off on smelling petroleum-based firearms cleaners at the kitchen table — and you could be ejected to the garage to clean your firearms. No big deal, right? Even if you live in Wisconsin… and it’s winter? Yeah, I thought so.

Enter Metalloid Corporation. Based in Sturgis (Mich.), this family-owned business is a single source supplier of metal machining, metalworking, and metalforming fluids. One of their employees who likes to hunt was banished to the garage in winter one time too many and started working on an environmentally and non-smelly gun cleaner. A bit later, and Metalloid has introduced a full line of environmentally safe gun maintenance products that are formulated with American-made ingredients. Each product comes in a reusable aluminum pump spray bottle. Their products are available online and from selected distributors and sell for $4.99 per bottle.
