John Farnam’s tip on batteries for your rifle scope

John Farnam, who last month was named ILEETA Trainer of the Year, continues to share excellent tips and updates in his Dtiquips email distribution. One of Farnam’s contacts recently had let him know of customer concerns about EOTech battery issues — specifically, that the factory-installed AA batteries are “leaking in the battery compartment and subsequently corroding the contacts.”

“Batteries surely represent a maintenance headache,” writes Farnam, “but much of our civilization is now dependent on them. Battery technology will surely improve, but, in the interim, replace them often and check/test your serious gear regularly!”

Farnam writes also that while “no battery is risk-free, for your EOTech, domestically-produced alkaline and lithium batteries usually represent the best choice. Even then, they need to be checked constantly, and replaced regularly.”
