SAN JOSE, Calif. — San Jose has become the first city in the nation to deploy FirstNet at full scale across its first responder agencies and the ecosystem of partners that support them, according to a press release.
San Jose’s emergency action plan calls for deploying FirstNet to both first responders and other city agencies like transportation and public works.
“Implementing FirstNet at full scale across the City is key to helping us create a new standard for public safety,” Sam Liccardo, Mayor of San Jose, told AT&T. “We believe this is a model for cities across the country to ensure those charged with maintaining the safety of our residents and communities have the tools they need to stay connected during disasters and emergencies.”
FirstNet, the dedicated public safety broadband network, is designed to boost first responders’ operational capability in the field via a reliable communications network.
