USA Police Chief publishes findings from 12 month study on body worn video
USA Police Foundation Executive Fellow, Chief Tony Farrar, has published the results from an “extensive yearlong study” which evaluates the effectiveness of the Police use of body worn video. The report identifies a number of benefits and positions body worn video in a very positive light.
Among the benefits outlined, the authors stressed:
“The findings suggest more than a 50% reduction in the total number of incidents of use-of-force compared to control-conditions, and nearly ten times more citizens’ complaints in the 12-months prior to the experiment.”
Reveal Media are currently recruiting staff to begin trading in the USA. The results from this US based study will no doubt have more clout than any British statistic that could be produced, and it will only fuel the growing realisation that body worn video is the next big thing in policing.
