Safariland unveils forensics apparel line

Safariland recently launched their Forensics Source apparel line for Crime Scene Investigators (CSI). This is mission-specific apparel and equipment designed to make the Crime Scene Investigator more efficient. This product line includes a custom configurable MOLLE vest, Crime Scene investigator patches, an expandable deployment bag, gloves, and knee pads.

Crime Scene Investigation has become a popular topic of law enforcement, which coincides with shows about Crime Scene Investigation going from niche to top-rated TV programming. Why are the shows popular? Because solving mysteries is fascinating. Why are more students pursuing training in Crime Scene Investigation? Because solving mysteries is fascinating.

The media interest in Crime Scene Investigation has also fueled another measurable phenomenon: Colleges and universities have responded with vigorous professional education programs which range from evidence collection to criminalist education. There are more CSI training programs and this professional field is growing.

Safariland LLC, part of BAE Systems, has long been the mainstay of law enforcement professionals worldwide. It seems only natural that they develop a load-bearing line of equipment that has the flexibility for CSI professionals. This will compliment the forensic supply store for crime scene, crime lab, drug testing, and first response materials and equipment.

Safariland’s CSI Vest is the centerpiece for the Forensics Source apparel line. This vest is MOLLE configured so the wearer can fill pouches with crime scene processing/evidence collection materials and keep them on hand. There are two styles: one designed for tropical wear and a closed back version. The pouches are uniquely designed to hold forensic supplies commonly used in processing. The vest can be fitted with Safariland’s Crime Scene screen printed labels and almost any other MOLLE compatible product.

The CSI Vest, radio and utility pouches designed for the CSI Vest come in black, khaki and navy. The CSI Vest is quickly configurable and is an excellent rapid deployment product. It’s design loans itself to major incident teams, first responder units configured to a law enforcement component and specialized investigation like explosives and aircraft accident investigation The matching Crime Scene ball cap comes in black.

The other part of the apparel line includes Guardian Pathogen Protective gloves, Armortip Puncture Protection gloves, and two different types of knee pads for deliberate processing at the scene.

Safariland has also responded to the industry by distributing Forensic Source products to law enforcement retailers nationwide. The three categories of products, Patrol, CSI, and First Responder, can now be found at the local law enforcement store.

Safariland, one of the world’s most recognizable brands, will now appear on CSI products.
