COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Colorado Springs Police Department is in the process of buying 525 new TASER stun guns, according to a release put out Thursday by TASER International.

The electronic stun gun manufacturer said the order by the CSPD is for the Taser X2 model, a dual-shot gun which first hit the market in 2011. The X2 is listed on the company's website for at least $1,200 apiece.

"This is one of the largest Taser X2 orders to date," Rick Smith, CEO and founder of TASER International, said in the release.
