SHOT Show 2012: Phoenix RBT Solutions

I’m on the floor at SHOT Show 2012 reporting that some things just manage to capture the attention of law enforcement officers. I visited Tony Lambraia and Steve Didier, co-owners of Phoenix RBT Solutions, where they showed me their most recent innovations. There is just too much to digest.

Tony and Steve deliver custom training solutions to the law enforcement and military communities. Their ‘product’ is actually two separate products:

reality-based training
training equipment innovations

A big part of the offering is a unique, non-lethal ammunition called Ultimate Training Munitions. Ultimate Training Munitions (UTM) is a leading provider of weapon conversions and training ammunition for armed forces and law enforcement agencies around the world, and Phoenix RBT Solutions is the U.S. distributor of UTM.

Let’s put it this way: Most marking rounds that work in real guns use something that works the action and propels the projectile. Anything that has to work the action guarantees a high velocity round down range. I can attest to the fact some of those products hurt, and can injure.

The UTM products use a separate charge to propel the projectile, which was designed to get the persons attention, not send them to the medics. Having been the recipient of marking rounds, I vote yes on lower velocities. Their set up also prevents the real thing from accidently being used.

Phoenix RBT Solutions had several other training innovations that clearly demonstrated to me that these guys really use the stuff they designed. When I get the chance, I will spend a little more time describing their product line.
