Video: Man shot by Ga. deputy after struggle in courthouse
An altercation broke out after the man used a cellphone or tablet in court
JONESBORO, Ga. — Officials say Georgia authorities are investigating after a sheriff's deputy shot a man at a suburban Atlanta courthouse.
Police tell local news outlets the man who was shot Wednesday morning was at the Clayton County courthouse annex in Jonesboro, south of Atlanta, on a child support matter.
Jonesboro Police Chief Franklin Allen tells WSB TV one deputy used his TASER on the man after a dispute over the man's cellphone or tablet use in court. Allen says another deputy shot the man in the buttocks.None
Authorities say the man was taken to an Atlanta hospital in stable condition.
Clayton Sheriff Victor Hill referred all questions about the shooting to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
A spokeswoman for the GBI said she had no additional information.
