DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A former NFL player and another man led police on a pursuit after allegedly robbing an AT&T store at gunpoint.

Police told WSB TV that former Denver Broncos player Quanterus Smith, 27, and Brandon Byse, 22, demanded money and took iPhones from the store Wednesday. Employees said they took 10 phones and more than $500.

Police attempted to stop the car, but the duo fled. Police said they crossed multiple medians and were putting others in danger.

“Traffic wasn’t especially heavy, but there were concerns for the community based on erratic driving and speed,” Sgt. Jessie Hambrick said.

Deputies can be seen on video performing a PIT maneuver, causing the suspect’s car to crash. Smith and Byse were taken into custody after the crash.

Smith, the driver, was charged with armed robbery, felony fleeing and attempting to elude, misdemeanor theft by receiving and possession of a handgun while committing a felony, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Byse was charged with armed robbery. Both men are being held without bond.
