Video: NY councilman confronts illegally parked officer at Dunkin' Donuts

Officer responds by giving the councilman a $165 ticket for blocking a crosswalk

By PoliceOne Staff

New York — A NY city councilman is accusing an NYPD parking officer of speeding, flashing his emergency lights and talking on a cell phone while rushing to a Dunkin Donuts, where he says the officer illegally parked his cruiser and went in to buy a cup of coffee. NY Councilman Daniel Halloran began following Officer Daniel Chu when the cop flipped on his squad car lights and bolted through the city as if there was an emergency.

“He was in a rush to get a coffee Coolata at Dunkin Donuts, and felt he could blow stop signs, speed, swerve in traffic.” the councilman told CBS News.

Chu, who’s behavior is being investigated by the NYPD, responded to Halloran’s video-taped confrontation by writing the councilman a $165 ticket for blocking a crosswalk. See the video below.
