The Abilene City Council on Thursday will consider purchasing 12 Chevrolet Tahoes for police vehicles and five pickups for street and water utility crews.

The Tahoes carry a cost of $328,332 — $27,361 a piece — from Caldwell Country Chevrolet in Caldwell.

The other bidder, Lawrence Hall Chevrolet in Abilene, offered a total cost of about $13,000 more for the vehicles, which will replace the city's Crown Victoria models.
