How an anonymous 'close calls' reporting initiative is saving officers' lives

The LEO Near Miss officer safety initiative offers valuable reminders and lessons learned

Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) Near Miss is an officer safety initiative managed by the National Police Foundation that enables law enforcement personnel to read about and anonymously share stories of near misses, which are often referred to as "close calls."

Each of these near misses – incidents where an officer was almost seriously injured or killed – offer valuable reminders and lessons learned that, if shared with the law enforcement community as a whole, can be incorporated into training and policy development proactively to improve officer safety.

This video provides an overview of LEO Near Miss, emphasizes the practical benefits of the program for training, and encourages officers to anonymously share their near-miss stories with other officers on LEOnearmiss.org
