Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar personally escorted Gloria into the Alamodome along with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Honor Guard. Officers with the San Antonio PD played bagpipes.

A police horse from the Bexar County Mounted Unit - named “Jesse” after her father - was also included in the escort. The department names its horses after fallen deputies.

“I didn’t expect any of this. I really didn’t - it’s just amazing, it really is,” Gloria said.

Salazar also surprised Gloria with a necklace with her father’s badge number. Gloria she will never forget her special graduation day.

“I just know that Jesse would be doing this himself if he could right now, so being that he can’t be with us he’s got 1500 brothers and sisters that are willing to do it for him,” Salazar said.
