MARYSVILLE, Wash. — Video of a Washington police officer’s simple gesture on the Fourth of July caught national attention, including from President Donald Trump.

A Marysville officer was on patrol last week when he spotted an American flag that was dragging on the ground, Q13 reported. Video from a homeowner’s surveillance camera shows the officer walking up to the flag attached to the home.

The flag’s attachment broke, causing part of the flag to drag on the ground. The footage shows the officer attempting to place the flag back in its holder without success.

The officer is seen on video rolling up the flag and placing against the home. The homeowner shared the surveillance video on social media, saying the officer deserved recognition for his good deed.

The video eventually caught the attention President Trump, who shared the video on Instagram and wrote:  "Beautiful — thank you to our GREAT law enforcement officers, for all you do, 24/7/365!"
