PHILADELPHIA — Two Philadelphia police officers were praised for going the extra mile after helping a young girl ride her bike.
Dash cam footage shows two Philadelphia officers helping 7-year-old Tammarah Baht-Yisrael ride her bike up a hill during the 15th Police Districts' Peace Ride on June 16, WTXF reported. Philadelphia police tweeted out video of Officers Xuong Tran and Stephanie Aitken riding alongside the young girl offering words of encouragement.
Aitken told WTXF that she joined the Philadelphia bike patrol right out of the academy about a year ago and struggled at first. She said she could relate to Tammarah’s struggles.
Captain Anthony Luca said he was touched after seeing the officers’ actions.
"It makes your heart melt when you see the officers waiting and assisting her—learn how to ride the bike the right way," he said.
