HAMPTON, Va. One of six Christian anti-war protestors arrested at an Air Force base has thanked officers for their professionalism.

According to WVEC, protestor Russell De Young sent a heartfelt letter to the Hampton Police Department thanking them for their handling of the incident.

De Young wrote in the letter that police, “treated us [protestors] with concern for our safety, gentleness in executing their duties, and an appreciation for expressing out right to address concerns we have about our government.”

The Hampton Police Department shared the letter with the public via Twitter.

The arrests were a result of a group of about 20 people blocking the entrance to a gate at Langley Air Force Base.
