ASHER, Okla. — An Oklahoma reserve officer was killed in a fiery crash while on his way to training.
The Shawnee News-Star reports that 23-year-old Jarate Dewayne Condit’s vehicle ran off the roadway and collided with a culvert before being engulfed in flames Tuesday.
Police said Condit died at the scene. Condit served as a reserve officer in Asher since October and also worked as a volunteer firefighter.
Condit leaves behind a fiance, whom he proposed to on the morning of the accident, according to KOKH-TV.
“We were going to wait till Valentine’s Day to tell everyone, tell his family,” Tiffany Nicole Bulin, Condit’s fiancé, said.
Police said there was some freezing reported in the area and that roadways were wet. The accident remains under investigation.
