TULARE, Calif. —  Cellphone video shot by a witness captured officers in California fatally shooting a man who attacked them.

The Fresno Bee reports that Tulare police were called Monday on a report that a bus driver was assaulted by a male, police Sgt. Jon Hamlin said. Officers then encountered 27-year-old Jontell Reedom and asked him to surrender.

Reedom began attacking the officers and ran away even after an officer used a TASER on him. Hamlin said the suspect continued to be combative before the officers shot him, according to KFSN.

Reedom was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. It’s not clear if one or both officers fired at Reedom.

Hamlin said the officers were treated for minor injuries.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting.
