Forensics in Sexual Assault Investigations

When the average citizen hears the word “forensics” they immediately think of the many CSI shows on television and how criminals are apprehended. In the law enforcement profession “forensics” has a multitude of definitions, but most importantly in a sexual assault investigation, “forensics” can mean testifying in a court of law about the investigation performed by the law enforcement investigator to identifying a specific type of evidence such as a fingerprint or DNA. In a sexual assault investigation a law enforcement investigator who can connect some forensics to the alleged crime, then this may support that a crime was or wasn’t committed. In this video Lawrence W.
