WESTMINSTER, Md. — A Westminster man is being held on $15,000 bail after allegedly threatening to have a police officer killed after he was arrested on an outstanding warrant in Howard County.

Thomas Dodson Haynie Jr., 29, of the unit block of Pennsylvania Avenue, is charged with one count each of arson threat, false statement to a police officer and disorderly conduct.

Haynie was arrested Friday evening after a Westminster City Police officer found him allegedly intoxicated and sleeping on the sidewalk near Bond Street and Union Alley.

Haynie allegedly gave the officer a false name and birth date several times; however, the officer was able to positively identify Haynie using the photo on file with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, according to charging documents.

Haynie had an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Howard County for failure to appear, according to charging documents.

Haynie allegedly began to swear and yell when he was detained and placed in the patrol vehicle, according to the documents, while continuing to claim he was "Thomas Haynie Sr."

En route to the Carroll County Detention Center, Haynie stated, "I hope you wake up dead," to the arresting officer, claimed to be a member of the Italian mob and threatened, "One day you'll get in this car ... and it'll explode," according to charging documents.

Once at the detention center, Haynie allegedly began to kick the inside of the police vehicle, hitting his head on the windows and shouting, swearing and making threatening remarks to the arresting officers and other police officers. His behavior continued after being turned over to correctional officers, according to the charging documents.
