MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. — The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office has just hired the first female Lieutenant in it’s department’s 208 year history.
MSCO made the decision to promote Sergeant Terri Hall to Lieutenant Thursday afternoon. Hall was an officer with the Mobile Police Department for four years before joining the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office where she has been since 2004. Hall was also named Deputy of the Year in 2014.
“To be the first to be promoted to this rank is amazing and I just hope I can be an inspiration to other females,” said newly appointed Lieutenant Terri Hall.
Sheriff Sam Cochran said Hall was deemed the best fit for the position after passing a written exam, being interviewed by several committees within the Sheriff’s Office and having high service ratings.
“She’s been a leader in the department both on and off duty. She’s an outstanding candidate and we know we’ll get great things from her in the future,” said Sheriff Sam Cochran
Cochran said Hall’s past experience as a supervisor in patrol, detective bureau and internal affairs division made her a great candidate for the position. Hall’s new promotion doesn’t leave her nervous or intimidated as her goals and standards for the Sheriff’s Office remain the same.
"(MCSO) strive for this community and strive for good leadership,” said Hall. “Challenges are still going to be the same, but I’m just looking forward to my new endeavor.”
